Guided Snorkeling

Explore the intertidal waters of the Nanaimo area with a hands on approach. Don snorkel gear to keep yourself warm as you float calmly along looking for marine life including abalone, anemones, brown seaweed, chitons, crabs, mussels, nudibranchs, sculpin, sea cucumber, sea stars, sea urchins, shrimp, snails, sponges, surf grass, tube worms, flounder, and more.
Nanaimo Dive Outfitters offers both guided and self-guided snorkel experiences for the whole family. Equipment is available for rent if you need it.

Guided Snorkel Experience

- $75 single person
- $40 each additional person

Meet your guide at Nanaimo Dive Outfitters to try on and gather your equipment, then pack up and drive to a local shore based snorkel site. Your guide will show you proper snorkeling techniques then guide you through the site, helping to spot some of the many creatures you can find in these waters. You may be lucky and receive a visit from a curious local sealion.

Self Guided Snorkel Experience

- $25 per person for equipment including wetsuit, hood, gloves, boots, mask, snorkel, fins
Meet at Nanaimo Dive Outfitters to try on and gather your snorkeling equipment. We will provide a map of the best local snorkel spots in and around Nanaimo and provide assistance in choosing the best site for you. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the natural beauty of Vancouver Island.

Snorkel with the Seals

- $99 per person (2 person minimum -approx. 3 hrs)
Meet at Nanaimo Dive Outfitters to try on and gather your equipment, then head down to meet the boat. A short ride will take you to several spots just outside Nanaimo Harbour where you have the chance to snorkel around a colony of seals. If you are quiet, they will be curious and come to check you out creating an awesome personal encounter with these graceful creatures.
You also have the chance to see a wide variety of other marine life that inhabit these waters.

There are many awesome books and pamphlets available at the store to help you identify the marine life that you see.
